Here is a video that I just finished. As I mentioned in an earlier blog post about my Hawaii trip that more photos and video were on their way. Well, here is a video. I enjoyed editing and color grading this one but am glad to have it done. The photos are still on their way. Enjoy.

Italy Book
In July 2010 I ended my study abroad in Switzerland and traveled down to Italy where I met up with my sisters, Joella and Natalia, to take a 2 week giro d’Italia. While there we decided we should make a book of our pictures so we can remember it. Here we are almost two years later and I have finally done it (thanks to a little bit of a push from my sister). It was a fun trip down memory lane and I can’t wait to go back to Italy again. My wife also decided that we need to make a book about our memories of Switzerland together. So that will be another project coming up that is two years late. Here are a few samples of the photos and layout for the Italy book.
Hawaiian Cinemagraph
Recently I discovered a website that I thought was really cool. It’s cinemagraphs.com. The thing I really like about this is that these are not just your typical animated gifs. These instead are great photographs that have subtle movements isolated to only one area which places an emphasis on the subject. So I thought I’d give this a try. This image is not necessarily the best photo, but this was more for me to learn the technical aspects of this. Thanks to Christal and Dora for being my models for this scenic cinemagraph in Hawaii.
Hawaii Infographic
Recently Dora and I took a trip to visit her sister and brother-in-law Christal and Daniel in Hawaii. It was a very fun trip with lots of things to do and see and plenty of time to relax and enjoy the scenery. And of course take lots of photos. This is an infographic I made of a few trip statistics and all the things we did/saw. I’m so glad Daniel and Christal let go visit and stay with them. They were wonderful hosts. Photos and video to come soon. Click here to view the PDF.

My 2011 Annual Report
Recently I learned about a man who tracks various things of his life throughout the year then creates an infographical annual report of his year. You can find all of his annual reports at feltron.com. They are really interesting to look at and well designed. I of course thought this was a great idea and decided to do the same thing. Just not quite as in depth as he does.
Here is a look at what I was able to put together for this last year. It was pretty limited since I wasn’t gathering information to use for this. This year I have started out keeping track of a few various things. Some are things that I think will just be interesting to see the statistics at the end of the year, like what movies I watch or types of meals I eat. While others are actually things to help me with my new year’s resolutions. You can see some of my statistics I’m tracking at daytum.com/keldenpeterson. If I haven’t updated things for awhile on there, then I’m probably failing my new year’s resolution to track things for next years annual report. I have three resolutions I’m trying to stick to. They are:
Track certain things for 2012 Annual Report
Do a personal design project once a week
Get better at waking up on time
Hopefully tracking and reporting these (even if nobody looks at them) will help me accomplish my goals. Good luck to you all with your resolutions this year too. Click here to view the PDF version.
A Cars Chrismas
This is a quick film I did with a few of my family members over the Christmas break. We put on our own family film festival and split into four teams and each created its own film. We each only had one week to come up with an idea, film it, and edit. Then we all got together one night and laughed at everyone’s awesome films. They all turned out great and it was fun to do. Thanks to everyone that participated. Here is my team’s short film.
St. Moritz Olympics
This last weekly project was to design a one line logo for the London Olympics. We decided to broaden that scope and pick any olympic location. So I chose St. Moritz, Switzerland. So the design was supposed to be just one continuous line and I started that with the St. part of the name. But then I failed miserably with the rest and just did a design that was obviously inspired by the requirements but didn’t completely follow through with them. So this is what I came up with. Maybe at some point I’ll take this beyond a wordmark and add a graphic logo as well.
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. So much better than Christmas, Independence Day, Halloween and Valentines. Who wouldn’t love a holiday centered around Food and Football? Oh, and giving thanks and family I guess. This year I shot some video of the day. I even went as far as to run a camera on timelapse in the kitchen while dinner was being prepared. The timelapse shows how frantic and busy the day is while the rest of the video shows how fun and relaxing it can be.
Sicilian Photoshop
For my birthday some of my siblings decided to give me a canvas print of a photo I’ve taken. So it has taken me awhile to decide on a photo to use but I finally decided on this one of a boat sitting along the Cefalu, Italy beach. However, there were so many beach umbrellas and people in the background I didn’t think it was the best for a large print. So I decided to put my photoshop skills to use and fix it up. This is the side by side comparison, can you spot the difference?
