I Am Switzerland

This summer Dora and I had a chance to return to Switzerland where we first met. We spent 4 weeks there and loved every minute of it. It is such a beautiful place that I came away with nearly 6 hours worth of footage and even more photos. I’ll eventually get around to creating an infographic about the trip to give you all the exact numbers. This short film was written and filmed during that time (and edited during the two months that followed). Dominique, the owner of the hotel we stayed at, was kind enough to do the narration for the video. I certainly didn’t write the easiest words for him to say, but he did great.

USU Baseball

Recently I filmed the USU Baseball team and put together these two short films. It was the first time I have tried doing something with this style. I really liked this style and am thinking of other ways to use it. There are a number of things that I will plan to change next time I make something with this high contrast style and slow motion. It was definitely a good learning experience and hopefully round two will be much better.

Snow Day

For one of my classes I am taking this semester I had to put together a 2 minute montage video. Normally I really hate cold weather but love seeing beautiful photographs of snowy scenes. So on Saturday morning I woke up early and captured some footage and a few still photographs as well. Then I gathered up some older footage and put together this little video. I’m still trying to warm up from all that cold weather.

2012 Annual Report

2012AnnualReport-011Last year I discovered Nicholas Felton’s personal infographics. You can read all about that in my 2011 Annual Report blog post. Since then I have been tracking a few things about me throughout the year.

It is very interesting to look back and see a brief data set about my life and compare it to the previous year. It has been fun working on this and seeing that somehow I watched exactly 100 movies (including repeats) and exactly 100 different eating locations (includes picnics, restaurants and other’s homes). Click here to view the PDF version so you can actually read it.

La Lasagna

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. While this video has nothing to do with Thanksgiving, it is full of food. Lasagna to be exact. For quite some time now, Dora has wanted me to make a cooking video for her. Almost like a video recipe card. So this is not a traditional cooking video that you would see on the food network or something. This is just a quick glimpse of the ingredients and process of making a lasagna with fresh pasta. I hope you enjoy the video, I know I enjoyed the lasagna.

Italy 2012 – Venice

We hadn’t originally planned on visiting Venice during this trip to Italy. But long story short, we had to change our flight home from Rome to Venice. So we hopped on a train and made our way north. We only spent one night there and I wanted to see as much as possible in that one night. So we wondered the streets late at night. Unfortunately Dora got a bit scared of our late night stroll.

Italy 2012 – Rome

We had a few days in Rome, the eternal city, to explore. We packed so many different things into those few days, it was no wonder we were so tired when we finally got home. One random little highlight in Rome was that our hotel window overlooked Piazza Navona. This was my first time in Rome with a nice view out my hotel window. The funny thing is, I didn’t realize until we got home that I never even took a picture out the window…oh well.

Italy 2012 – Florence

Florence is amazing. This is the heart of the Renaissance and the locals are very proud of their place in history. I think it is just amazing that you can go to Florence and practically turn back time and imagine things the way they were 500 years ago. You can see the work of all the ninja turtles all around. This is one place that always seems to fascinate me.
