This last weekly project was to design a one line logo for the London Olympics. We decided to broaden that scope and pick any olympic location. So I chose St. Moritz, Switzerland. So the design was supposed to be just one continuous line and I started that with the St. part of the name. But then I failed miserably with the rest and just did a design that was obviously inspired by the requirements but didn’t completely follow through with them. So this is what I came up with. Maybe at some point I’ll take this beyond a wordmark and add a graphic logo as well.

Peterson Film Festival
This Christmas break I am making my family participate in a Family Film Festival. It’s called the “50 Cents Film Festival” and is presented by Peterson Productions and Swedish Pancakes. Mmm…I love swedish pancakes. The festival will be similar to a 48 Hour Film Fest. But instead of 48 hours we have a week. Another requirement will be that all video must be filmed with a flip video camera since we all received one for Christmas last year.
So to introduce the festival I created this short little video starring my beautiful wife. I had fun creating all the titles for it and the film festival logos as well. Dora designed the awesome poster to go along with everything. I think it will be a lot of fun and can’t wait to see what my family will come up with.

Logo Selection
Out of all the designs I had come up with, I felt like this design was the one that fit what I was really looking for the best. I love the form of the ‘s’ and how it feels more like a mountain than the others. There is still a lot that needs to happen to this to make it look good. A lot of little tweaks and changes, but I think this is a good start.
Strada Ski Co. Initial Logo Designs
Recently I started branding a ski company called Strada. To start on the logo, I typed out Strada and started looking at it in a few different typefaces. I found two that I liked quite a bit but niether really fit the style I was going for. So I created my own combination of the two typefaces and created the last one to use for the Strada wordmark.
Next I needed to create another mark that would fit with the wordmark. Since it is a ski company, a mountain would be an obvious option. But I only wanted to go with the mountain if I could do it in a way that hadn’t been done before. I also wanted to use the shape of the “s” to create a trail moving from the top of the mountain to the bottom. These were some of the ideas that I liked out of the ones that I had sketched out. But I still wasn’t sure which to go with.
